Who we are

Budleigh Salterton AFC Youth is dedicated to nurturing young football talent and fostering a love of the game. Our mission is to create a positive, supportive environment where children can develop their skills, build confidence and make lasting friendships both on and off the pitch.

We provide a structured training environment where players can sharpen their technical abilities, learn tactics, and build resilience. Led by dedicated volunteer coaches, our sessions are designed to challenge players and encourage growth. As we continue to expand, we're focused on forming age-specific teams and competing in local leagues, giving players every opportunity to test themselves and develop as footballers.

Football for All

From beginners to budding stars, we welcome players of all abilities. We run mixed all ability training sessions, advanced training and age specific teams.

FA Qualified Coaches

Our dedicated coaches are FA qualified, DBS checked and passionate about providing a safe, fun and supportive space for developing young players.

Community and Family

We're more than just a club — we're a community. We host events, encourage parent involvement, and strive to create an environment where families can connect and kids can thrive.

Development Pathways

Whether it's playing for a team, competiting in a league, or simply enjoying football with friends, we offer clear pathways for players to progress and achieve their goals.

Our history

Below is a timeline outlining the history of Budleigh Salterton AFC and its youth section, highlighting key milestones and developments that have shaped the club's growth and community impact over the years.

The Club's Formation

Budleigh Salterton AFC was founded and began competing in the East Devon Football League.

Securing a Permanent Home

The club leased four acres of land at Greenway Lane, establishing its long-term base

Introducing Youth Coaching

The club began offering informal youth coaching, encouraging local children to get involved in football.

Youth Football Relaunch

After a period without an active youth section, the club relaunched youth football with Friday Night Football sessions to reintroduce local children to the game.

Forming a Mixed U9/10s Squad

The club started a mixed Under 9s/10s squad, providing regular training to build the foundation for future teams.

Expanding Youth Teams

The youth section grew to include dedicated U9s, U10s, and a U9/10s development team, with our first matches. Additional weeknight training sessions for age-specific groups were introduced and 1-to-1s.

More interest and teams

With an ever growing list of interested children we began an U11s team and brought on new coaches. We also secured a lease for land besides the main club where we will create pitches for our youth section to have a permanent home of its own.
